Szinte mindenféle minta elemzésére alkalmas.

Limits of the method

Tengervíz mintára nem alkalmas, a magas klorid-tartalom zavarja a mérést (2000 mg/l fölötti).

Detailed Protocol

A mintához 2 M-os sósavat adunk, O2-el kihajtjuk a szervetlen szén-tartalmú gázokat, majd 680C-on platina katalizátor jelenlétében 5.0 tisztaságú O2-ben elégetjük, utána infravörös érzékelővel detektáljuk a keletkezett CO2-t.
Szilárd mintánál összes szén-tartalom meghatározásakor :900C-on égetjük el platina és kobalt keverék katalizátor jelenlétében, míg a szervetlen szén-tartalom meghatározásakor: 25%-os foszforsavval szabadítjuk fel a karbonátokat, majd 200C-on égetjük el a mintát.
