Biochar nameKukorica csutka bioszén (CC-HTC)
Biochar name in English
CC-HTC
Type of data sheet
Characterization of a particular biochar
Main category/sub category
- Agricultural and forestry waste
- Straw, used straw, husks and grain dust
Description of raw material
corncob from maiz (Zea mays) grown in Serbia (ZP Maize hybrid 505)
Technology classification
Hydrothermal carbonization
Carbonization duration (residence time)
6 h
Highest treatment temperature (HTT) (°C)
230
Product fractions (name and quantity)
hydrochar and aqueous dispersion
Post treatment
No post treatment performed (pure)
Detailed description of production method
HTC treatment of corncob and miscanthus was performed in a 1 L
steel autoclave (Anton Paar), immersed in water, and then heated at
230 °C for 6 h under autogenous pressure. After cooling, the
autoclaves were opened, and the resultant hydrochar was removed
from the aqueous dispersion by vacuum filtration. The resulting fine
powder was dried at 40 °C.
