A kémiai vizsgálatokhoz a fermentlé mintát kétféleképpen készítették elő. Készítettek egy tízszeresére higított és szűrt mintát, illetve kénsavas roncsolatot. Egyes mérések esetében további hígításokra volt szükség, ezeket a már kész higításból, illetve a mintából készítették. Zárójelben a szárazanyagra vonatkoztatott értékek találhatóak.

Gödöllői rozsdabarna erdőtalajhoz kevert fermentlé zsázsa és angolperje növekedésre gyakorolt hatását vizsgálták. A kis adagú kezelések pozitív hatással voltak a növényekre, a nagy adagok depreszsziót,és csökevényes gyökérfejlődést okoztak.

A fermentlé tápanyagtartalma növelheti a talaj termékenységét, töménységét, illetve hígítását teszteléssel érdemes beállítani.
A kiindulási anyagtól függően szennyezőanyag-tartalma lehet, pl. el nem bontott toxikus szerves anyagok, toxikus fémek. Mikrobiológiai szennyezettségre is lehet számítani, az anaerob mikroorganizmusok nagy nedvességtartalom mellett anoxikus körülményeket, esetleg rothadást is előidézhetnek.
A talaj pH értékét, redoxpotenciálját, vezetőképességét megváltoztathatja.
