Description of the waste generating technology

A Bányabérci meddőhányót a Bányabérci akna mélyítése során kitermelt meddő-kőzet deponálására alakították ki 1965–66-ban. Nem csak meddőanyagot, hanem a gyengébb minőségű ércet is a meddőhányóra deponálták, melynek feldolgozása veszteséges lett volna, illetve ideiglenesen ércet is tároltak a meddőhányón.

A bányabérci meddőanyag erősen szulfidos, a meddőhányó felszíne eródeálódott, kilúgzódott. Kéntartalma a többi gyöngyösoroszi meddőanyaghoz képest nagy, csurgalékvize erősen savas. Átlagosnál magasabb arzén- és ólomtartalmú.

A bányabérci meddőanyag erősen szulfidos, nagy pirittartalmú. Kéntartalma a többi gyöngyösoroszi meddőanyaghoz képest nagy, átlagosnál magasabb arzén- és ólomtartalmú.

Other characteristics of the waste/by-product

A bányabérci meddőanyag közel negyven éve folyamatosan ki van téve a környezeti elemek eróziós hatásának. Mivel magas pirittartalmú, ezért hamar beindultak benne a savas csurgalékvíz képződési folyamatok. A csurgalékvíz erősen savas kémhatása mellett nagy fémtartalmú, mely a közeli Nagyvölgyi-patak As, Cd, Mn és Zn tartalmát jelentősen megnövelte.

Három trófikus szintről származó tesztorganizmussal mérve 90-100%-os gátlást okoz, tehát nagyon toxikus (Bertalan Zsuzsanna diplomamunka, BME ABÉT, 2009).
A meddőhányó savas, nagy fémtartalmú csurgalékvize szemmel látható káros hatást okoz a vízfolyás mentén élő növényzetre (Tamás, BÁNYAREM Projekt Tanulmány, 2007).
